Standard General Edmonton
Standard General Edmonton, a Division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is a major civil construction contractor that has served the Greater Edmonton Region for over 50 years. We build major public roadways, private developments and industrial projects, with a core focus on road construction and material sales.
As a responsible corporation, Standard General Edmonton strives to operate safely and in an environmentally friendly manner. We value the communities where we work and take pride in providing our clients with timely, efficient, and high-quality results. We are proud to be part of the communities where we live and work.
At peak construction season, we employ up to 400 people, including engineers, technologists, mechanics, tradespeople, and equipment operators. We currently operate asphalt plants in Acheson and Leduc, and a concrete plant in Acheson. Gravel is extracted from our pit near Whitecourt, Alberta, for transport to depots across the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.

Standard General Edmonton is a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., a vertically integrated specialty construction company with specialized experience in road maintenance, underground utilities, aviation infrastructure, line painting, and roadway maintenance services. As of 2025, Colas Western Canada offers a wide range of innovative and sustainable transportation infrastructure services to clients in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, and the Yukon.
